Statement of the Australian Values Alliance
on Huang Xiangmo‘s visa
8 February 2019
The Australian Values Alliance welcomes the
decision made by the Australian Immigration to deny the citizenship to the
Chinese Communist lobbyist Huang Xiangmo and cancel his residency visa.
Huang Xiangmo was head of the Australian
Council for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China (ACPPRC), and is
currently head of the Oceanic Alliance of the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China(OAPPRC). Both the ACPPRC and the OAPPRC are official
branches of China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification
(CCPPNR) in Beijing
run by the United Front Work Department of the
CCP Central Committee.
The AVA views the political donation given
by Huang as corruption practice targeting the Australian Government for the CCP
agendas.
The cancellation of Huang’s residency is a
new step in the right direction for Australia to reject the virus of
corruption. It is a shame that the Chinese communities in Australia have
been abused by the CCP in an attempt to undermine our institutions of democracy
and Australian values such as freedom, human rights and the rule of law.
For too long, some community leaders who
are engaged in political activities harmful to Australia
on behalf of foreign governments, including China , have reaped inappropriate
personal gain from the Australian governments and the communities they
represented. The AVA calls on the Australian government to take further
measures to reverse those objectionable developments.
